Splatoon Global Testfire

The first weekend in May, the world got its first taste of the upcoming Nintendo title Splatoon. The cartoonish team based shooter has a group of squidnoids–part squid part human–fighting for ink-based domination. The weapon loadout has three archetypes: Shooters, Chargers, and Rollers with a wide range of sub and special weapons that affect your overall “class” specifications. After and during the “Global Testfire”, people were already complaining about one of the archetypes of weapons, the roller. In a turf war (one of the game types) you fight to cover the arena with as much paint for your team as you can while taking out the other team. The roller can cover a huge amount of area quickly, but if handled quickly their extremely short range can be their downfall.

Kael'thasKael’thas Sunstrider joins the Nexus

Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider from the Warcraft universe was added this week to Heroes of the Storm.  Kael’thas falls under the assassin class, filling the role as a fiery ranged caster that becomes empowered by verdant orbs. Activating the orb trait adds a bonus to each of his basic attacks. Kael’thas can dish out a significant amount of area of effect damage and a skill shot based stun as well. Finally, his ultimate abilities are Phoenix and Pyroblast.  Pyroblast is a large single target pyroblast that moves slowly but deals massive damage upon impact.  His phoenix ability summons his loyal companion, which when shot out deals damages on its skill shot path and prolongs to dish out direct and splash damage before dissipating (similar to Jaina’s water elemental ability)

Steve “Moorgard” Danuser, formerly of Sony Online Entertainment, has announced that he will be joining Blizzard as Senior Designer on World of Warcraft. Due to start this month, Moorgard is happy to be joining the team after a hard few months following the SOE sale to Daybreak Game Company and the aftermath of layoffs that followed. He is very versed in content and narration development and I am excited to see what he has in mind for World of Warcraft to freshen up content and the story going forward.

The four players joining Numberguy, RenieHouR, and AKAWonder are: Freakeh, Spo, Airbrushed, and Martincreek. All these players were previously with Team Darkstar and are all of Swedish nationality. I am excited to see what this means for a team as a whole in the upcoming months.
