SHIELD – Full Trailer

ABC Studios’ new Marvel show coming this fall, set after The Avengers follows the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fan favorite Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) who was killed by Loki in The Avengers turns up proving that hashtag campaigns such as #CoulsonLives have super powers of their own.

Coulson assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

With Joss Whedon at the helm and writers from Dollhouse, Alias, Smallville and Angel on board, I think this is going to be a huge hit – and ABC is the right home for this. Check out the full 3-minute trailer:

Thor 2: The Dark World Trailer

Thor 2: The Dark World Trailer

Thor 2 will be arriving in 7 months which, in the scheme of things, seems a million miles away. Before November we have Iron Man 3 and Superman… uh oh. There we have it, the DC story of someone who walks on the earth who will appear not unlike a god to those that live there. Time to start the promotion of Marvel’s thunder god (or demi-god if you want to mis-label him like Tony Stark did in the Avengers).

I’m not complaining – but after seeing this trailer, that wait is going to be a long time coming.

In the words of my wife when she saw a clip of this earlier before it was released: “akjdfnoauenflIHnrl!” which, in the colloquial, translates to “mother Mary, this is going to be something awesome!” or, if you are from the darker places of the webiverse, “MOAR!”

Lack of Loki in the Avengers Blu-ray…

Lack of Loki in the Avengers Blu-ray…

…trailer. The movie obviously will satisfy your desire to be ruled but the new trailer released today won’t for all the Lokites and Hiddles fans. The mega-combo pack releases on September 25th and has lots of goodies inside.

But if that isn’t enough… there is more! Marvel have just announced that Avengers: Phase One will released in the near future. It will contain all six Marvel Studio films on Blu-ray: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers – with the latter three having 3D versions – as well as Phase One Archives. This will be one slick (and pricey) puppy at $219 RRP. More details will be released on July 15 at the closing day of Comic-Con. Check out this tasty trailer for it after the cut along with aforementioned Blu-ray trailer: More

Interview with a Cosplayer: Lindsey

Interview with a Cosplayer: Lindsey

As a big fan of Tumblr I’m always blogging images that stand out to me on almost any geeky subject. I will always try to find the original source though, sadly, the way that micro-blogging has evolved ownerships get removed along the way and you end up chasing sources down rabbit holes.  Earlier this year I reblogged a photo of female Thor with an impressive costume – I was able to cite the photographer but it was quite a mystery as to who the cosplayer was. After the image received some 50-something reblogs I noticed a Tumblr repost comment from the cosplayer.  How small the world is – I finally found my source!  It was great to finally touch base and get talking so, without further ado…

Meet Lindsay, 28 from Washington, DC: Auditor by day – Superhero Re-inventor by night…

How long have you been working on the Female Thor costume?
Before I debuted the costume in October of 2011, I worked on it for a good solid 2 1/2 weeks, with about 2-3 hours of work put in every other day. The majority of the time went into the head-piece, which was probably the most complicated aspect. It’s covered in a mixture of real feathers (chicken, turkey, and owl).
Thor-slapped over Avengers “adopted” quip.

Thor-slapped over Avengers “adopted” quip.

Last week I wrote quite a rant on my Tumblr which turned out to be the push to create a more verbal-centric location to my ether-presense, thus creating this website.

It made sense that I return to that post to republish it here, with a few edits and upgrades along the way.

Recently there have been a couple of articles in the news about the line from The Avengers where Thor mentions Loki is adopted.  We all know that line – we all heard how the theaters roared with laugher at it.  There is, however, a group of people who were deeply offended.  In the New York Times (May 16th, 2012) Jessica Crowell decided to raise the objection of the quip not being funny in an online article she penned.  Now, she calls herself  ”a doctoral student in Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University“ but really that doesn’t hold much weight with me.

When I first read that a group of people were demanding an apology from Disney/Marvel regarding the line my wife was already in bed and I was just climbing in.  She was really keen to go to sleep – I was keen to rant.  I thought I got it out of my system but reading Jessica’s article while eating breakfast… well my half eaten toast clearly says it all.

Let us break down some key points and rebuttle here: More
