Magneto officiating at Professor X’s wedding

Magneto officiating at Professor X’s wedding

Patrick Stewart is going to marry his fiancée, the wonderful jazz singer, Sunny Ozell. What makes this all the more awesome is that Patrick’s close friend and colleague, Sir Ian McKellun, will be presiding over the wedding somewhere in the state of Massachusetts.

Sunny+Ozell+Patrick+Stewart

What I wouldn’t give to be a fly Nightcrawler on that wall, blending into the shadows and watching from a close distance. Appearing on the The Jonathan Woss Ross Show alongside the current Doctor, Matt Smith – who seemed (and rightly so) very much in awe of his new friend Sir Ian, Gandalf shared how he this won’t be his first time performing such a ceremony.

Geeks around the globe delight as these two fine actors, who have held some of the most iconic roles in Nerdom, will be wondering if Patrick will channel Captain Picard as he stands up, performing the infamous ‘PM’ aka The Picard Maneuver, or if McKellun will arrive in the nick of time and announce, “a wizard is never late…” Or perhaps they will break into some good old X-Men dialogue.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – The Alternative Trailer

Can this be considered the second trailer released for the movie? You bet your bottom dollar it can! There are only three notable differences: @0:23 — Bilbo’s reaction to Gandalf’s arrival,  @1:57 — Bilbo hiding behind a tree in Mirkwood and  @1:59 — Gandalf, the dwarves, and Bilbo running through a forest. Games of the week: The Amazing Spider-man and LEGO Batman 2

Games of the week: The Amazing Spider-man and LEGO Batman 2

Two very fun, geeky-games this week:

The Amazing Spider-man

Spidey is crawling everywhere over the coming eight days with the game released tomorrow and the movie swinging into theaters next week. This installment of the franchise acts as an epilogue of sorts for the movie allowing for a free-roaming open world play. The story line is pretty simple and, by not following the movie but taking place after it, allows for much more freedom. Spidey is to protect Manhattan from criminals all over the city and has really solid combat. More

Geek Dad Alert: Lego Lord of the Rings Trailer

Though only in his seventh year, my son has beaten every incarnation of the Angry Birds franchise on iPad, iPhone and Droid in our house and successfully helped other adults with their ornithological outrages. He has since moved on to two very different games for his allotted screen-time: Plants vs. Zombies, which, although he had originally completed last year, the recent update provides new levels, and The Lego games on Xbox. Though he does enjoy tackling the Lego games alone, he also likes the two-player action with his Papa beside his. We’ve played through the Indiana Jones, Batman and Star Wars games (he is now on VI: Return of the Jedi which he will likely complete on this Sunday’s allotted game time) which means it is time to pick up Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean.

However, there is one incarnation of the Lego series that I will be playing with him – but also after he has gone to bed: Lego Lord of the Rings, which will be showcased at E3 this week. The trailer below (after the cut) features original voice acting (much like Lego: Batman 2) and an infamous reenactment of a scene from Peter Jackson’s interpretation of The Fellowship of the Ring.

I can see what Lego toys we’ll be getting this Christmas… check out this trailer:  More
