Ah, better late than never. I had some happy time & wisely invested it on watching Steve Rogers.

I must confess that as much as I love MARVEL & my superheroes, Captain America: The First Avenger is not exactly my cup of tea… but Winter Soldier!

First off, I’m one of those who feels the excitement from the moment the MARVEL logo appears. But that’s not the point. The point is that my excitement stayed there throughout the movie.

We don’t see the same Steve Rogers/Captain America we saw on The Avengers: this one is already part of our times and still wants to do his best to save as many people as he possibly can by the “correct methods”. And how he perfectly teams up with Natasha/Black Widow is fantastic.
I felt the character of Natasha as a bit stronger than before. She’s in charge, she’s controlled and she definitely won’t take anybody’s crap (not that she ever did but you get my point).

Now, I didn’t know what to think about Sam Wilson/Falcon before I watched the movie, but now he has a place in my heart.
This soldier that is scarred from his time at the war but sets that aside to help Cap and Natasha in their (plot twist!) mission… totally won me over.

And Robert Redford… what can I say about Mr. Redford? No complaints, as always. What a character!

But now let’s move on to one of my new favourite characters: Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier.
A former soldier who had his memory wiped out and was turned into a murder machine. The action scenes are spectacular (I read that the Russo brothers wanted as much live action and less CGI as possible) although it’s easy to get lost, but that happens in most action movies.
My only complaint would be that I feel there wasn’t enough Winter Soldier, so I like to think they are saving the very best for the next movie.

Get ready for a major plot twist.
The magical thing of it is that it creates *even more* expectation for the next Avengers movie. (Can I have it now or…?)

And now, please let me pour my fangirl/geek heart here:
Let’s give an applause to the people who were in the room with me because it’s the first time someone else besides me recognises Stan Lee (yes, the first time, believe it or not!).
Also, I wasn’t the only one who gasped when [[SPOILER]] the mid-credits’ scene showed Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, I think a part of me fainted [[END OF SPOILER]].

Oh yeah, if you haven’t seen it already, remember: mid-credits and end credits scenes. Stay. For the love of whateveryoubelievein, STAY.

And that’s it.

Major improvement from the first Captain America movie, with unexpected twists and turns and tons of action.

This girl is satisfied.

Also… [[KEEP READING IF YOU ALREADY WATCHED IT]] Who else here is thinking/fearing/suspecting they might kill Steve in either Avengers or the next Cap movie and make Bucky the new Cap, like in the comics?

Good review Adrienne. It’s a fun movie no matter how you look at it. It just a bit too serious at times is all.

Agree. I should have added that at times it feels more like a spy thriller than a superhero movie, but I still liked it… a lot!
